We’re thrilled to announce that Brighton has earned an award in our first year entering the Michigan Green Communities Challenge! Among 62 communities recognized for their sustainability efforts, Brighton shines as one of only seven cities to receive a Bronze Seal of Achievement.

Backed by several state departments and associations, including the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy; the Michigan Economic Development Corporation; and the Michigan Municipal League, the Michigan Green Communities Challenge is an annual program that helps communities track their progress toward sustainability. Covering areas like energy efficiency, climate adaptation, and recycling, the challenge includes various categories with action items that earn points.

We’re so proud of this accomplishment and excited to continue making Brighton a greener, more sustainable community.
