Permits
A permit needs to be obtained in order to construct or
alter a structure, construct an addition, demolish or move any
structure, or make a change of occupancy. Additionally, a
permit is required for:
- Decks
- Fences
- Pools
- Sheds
- Roofing of any kind
- A Basement Finish
- Mechanical work (installation, replacement, alteration
or modification of all mechanical systems and components)
- Plumbing work (installation, replacement, alteration or
modification of all mechanical systems and components)
- Electrical work (all wiring installations, temporary and
permanent)
Signs
A Sign Permit is required for the following:
- All new signs
- Structural changes to existing signs
- Message changes to existing signs
- Relocation of existing signs

Penalties
There is a penalty for working without a permit and it is
enforced.
- A $100.00 fine will be assessed for residential work
without a permit
- A $300.00 fine will be assessed for commercial work
without a permit
- A $100.00 fine will be assessed for sign work without a
permit
Right of Way Permit
The Department of Public Services issues permits for work
in the right-of-way (Any work within the right-of-way, which
disturbs the pavement, curb and gutter, driveway entrances,
sidewalk, landscaping or grassed areas, requires a permit.).
