The City of Brighton is excited to
announce our new email subscription service. Subscribers
will receive email notifications about City news, events,
meetings and other information. The email subscription
service is one tool in the City’s efforts to be more
proactive in communicating new and important information to
our community. With this new approach the City will reach
out to the public with current information along with alerts
about important emerging issues such as snow emergencies and
crime alerts.
More than 100 million American adults
use email and most of them check their email on a regular
basis. According to a recent Pew Internet & American Life
Project Tracking Survey, Internet users are four times more
likely to check e-mail on any given day than to visit a
government website. Email has become a vital communication
tool and effective communications with the public is vital
to the operations of the City.
The email subscription service is a
cost effective method to deliver such information at minimal
cost to the City and with no cost to subscribers. While the
City of Brighton will continue to use traditional methods
for communicating with neighborhood groups, business
organizations, seniors and others the email subscription
service will enhance our service to a broader audience.
