June 24, 2015
From: Livingston County Law Enforcement
Subject: SAFE VENUE FOR CRAIGSLIST TYPE TRANSACTIONS
When meeting a person to complete a transaction initiated on Craigslist or similar online websites, citizens are advised to choose a safe environment. Livingston County police agencies are now encouraging citizens to utilize their local police facilities to help ensure their safety when meeting directly with online sellers.
This service is offered at EVERY police agency in Livingston County. The public is encouraged to conduct these transactions, whenever possible, during business hours in the lobby of the police building. Many of these locations have the added security of recorded video. Some of these police facilities have 24/7 video recording even after regular business hours. Citizens are encouraged to call their local police station for further details if arranging a meeting outside regular business hours.
