CITY OF BRIGHTON
FIRE HYDRANT FLUSHING - EXTENSION
RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF BRIGHTON AND THE RESIDENTS OF GENOA TOWNSHIP THAT HAVE CITY WATER SERVICE:
Due to the weather of last week as well as our crew’s need to repair a broken water main on Thursday, May 1st, the City of Brighton will need to extend their schedule for fire hydrant flushing. We will again be flushing hydrants between the hours of 6:00 am and 2:30 pm Tuesday through Thursday, May 6th through the 8th.
Please plan your water use accordingly. The procedure may cause some disturbances and discoloration in the water system following the flushing of the hydrants in your area as well as the day following. Customers may also experience a temporary drop in pressure as well. Please refrain from washing white or light colored clothes during the flushing period (6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the dates designated above).
If you experience discoloration and rust particles in your water, please run your cold water faucets only for approximately 10 minutes to clear the discolored water from your system. If the water is still discolored after running the cold water for 10 minutes, please turn off the faucet and repeat the previous step one hour later.
If you still continue to experience discolored water, please call the Utilities Director, Tim Krugh, at 227.9479.
